This fine art print of rock group King Crimson was created from an original, digital photograph by Tony Levin. It is of Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp and Tony Levin, who took this photo with a foot pedal, live in concert at The Convention Hall, in Asbury Park, NJ on July 31, 1982. Bill Bruford is off-camera. This piece is in the private art collections of all 4 King Crimson members of the early 80s.
This photo was taken on a tripod, and yet you can see motion in each of the performers. You can also see the original Tri-X film’s grain structure in the details of Tony’s head and body, accentuated by his slight motion on stage at the exact moment he triggered the camera’s shutter with a foot pedal, set up ahead of time. All the performers are in motion, yet the monitors and microphone in the center of the stage are perfectly sharp.
This photogravure print from steel-backed polymer plate was hand-printed in Colorado, USA on a traditional intaglio press using archive-quality Charbonnel etching inks and heavy-weight, Hahnemühle Copperplate 300 g/sm etching paper. This handmade work on paper has superior longevity, because it was made using low or acid-free ink and paper formulas that have been used in Europe for hundreds of years.
